The magazine isn’t getting caught it comes with a build in mag catch so the mag doesn’t drop to the floor and break or fly out at you and hurt you. There a lever at the back where the mag sits right above it on the grip switch it and the mag will fall out

I just got one recently. The sheath is different now but the blade is identical. You are right about the saw teeth on the back, they were worse than useless, because they hamper the ability to do batoning to split wood. I took out my angle grinder, grinded those teeth off, made a flat spine, then I also redid the tip, so mine has a standard drop point Bowie style tip now. Basically turned it into a bk9, but thicker.
